What I
do
I am a film composer, songwriter and producer based in Lilienthal near Bremen.
I have worked as a copyist and recording assistant on international productions and compose, perform, and produce film scores and songs across multiple genres. As a versatile multi-instrumentalist and band musician, I record a variety of acoustic, electric and digital instruments in my project studio.
Where I learned
I studied Film scoring and Performance (drum set) at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston as a scholarship recipient and Dean’s List student, developing the skills needed to compose for large orchestras. I gained experience as copyist and orchestrator from international productions, such as the US documentary 400 years of the telescope (PBS), which was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra in the legendary Abbey Road studios.
After completing my MA of Education in Music and English, I worked as a research assistant in the department of applied linguistics at the University of Bremen. The interdisciplinary project explored the textual interaction of film, music and language, as well as the psychological effects film music has on the segmentation of visual events.
What else?
I have recorded a number of indie-albums as a drummer, guitarist, and bassist (click here to view my discography) and performed across Germany, primarily with my former band Gomd, my current band Petterson, and American alternative rock veteran William Lee Self (known as the frontman of Montana Blue or Michael Stipe’s side project Tanzplagen). In 2015, I released my album Und täglich rockt das Kringelschwanzgetier with Lugert Verlag, featuring songs for elementary school rituals. I have also contributed songs for schoolbooks (e.g. the English elementary school-book series Sally) and produced audio tracks for a variety of music education materials.
